La Spezia, located at the center of the Gulf of Poets, is completely surrounded by hills and thanks to its mild climate, it is perfect for a pleasant stay all year round.

La Spezia is a good strategic point for those who want to visit the pearls of the territory. Moreover, from here it is possible to easily reach other places of art such as Genoa, Pisa and Florence. As a matter of fact, easy accessibility is one of the strengths for those who stay in la Spezia and especially at The Poet hotel that is located in a central position. It is just 300 meters away from the central train station, 15 minutes drive from the motorway exit and 1 Km away from the Morin promenade, main boarding point for ferries to Cinque Terre, Portovenere and Lerici.

La Spezia has a long history dating back to the Roman times but its urban fabric is relatively new and, for this reason, it is hard to find evidences of the ancient period. One of this is, however, is San Giorgio Castle located on the Poggio hill and built in the 13th century.  Inside the castle it is possible to find the archaeological museum, one of the 9 La Spezia museums.

Almost all other museums are situated in Via del Prione, one of the main road of the urban center. Wandering through the main streets, it is possible to see Art Nouveau style buildings, clear sign of the influence of Futurism.

For two-wheel lovers, we suggest to enjoy the lovely view of our territory that can be seen from the scenic routes of the area. For those who do not have a bike, it is possible to rent it in one of the many rental points in La Spezia.

In La Spezia there are no beaches, but the municipality area includes the beaches of Tramonti area. They are quite difficult to reach, since it is possible to get there only by sea or by hiking the paths of Cinque Terre National Park, but for those who want to discover these beaches, the effort will be rewarded.

Tramonti coastline is 7 Km long and it is characterised by the continuous series of promontories, small gulfs and coves.

Here, time seems to stand still: several houses have not been reached by electricity yet.  This area is part of the Cinque Terre National Park and of the marine protected area and is characterised by a wild and lush vegetation and by a crystal clear.
